Panel 1:
Sergeant at Arms: Commander Ezzok, proceed to the Accused's Platform.
Your guests may locate themselves in the audience hall down the stairs to my left.
Ezzok: Understood.
Colonel Hank Reynolds: "Accused?"
Panel 2:
Hank: I thought this was just a preliminary hearing.
Sergeant: Preliminary work has already been accomplished. We are proceeding straight to trial.
Hank: But you haven't told him what he's accused OF. And where's his lawyer?
Sergeant: Lawyer? That word does not translate.
Hank: Counsel? Someone to speak on behalf of the accused who's familiar with his legal options?
Sergeant: A bizarre human custom? No Gorn would allow another to stand for himself. That would be the epitome of cowardice.
Please proceed to the audience hall.
Panel 3:
Sergeant: Attention citizens of Gornar and guests! This Tribunal is now in session!
Please stand for Elder Sersa, General Zonak, and Admiral Uldrander!
Ezzok (aside): Uldrander is on the tribunal?
Zedaya (aside): Oh dear. Uldrander?
Berzok (aside): When did that happen?
Sergeant: And to your illustrious visages, I present Commander Ezzok of the Grzonder.
The vile mutineer who sacrificed his captain to join a human ship, while antagonizing an entire race of potential allies!
Ezzok: Excuse me??
Panel 4:
Elder Sersa: Sergeant at Arms... I sppreciate your enthusiasm, but we have not yet passed judgment on the accused.
Sergeant: Of course, Elder Sersa. It is just that I have reviewed the evidence myself and--
Sersa: Now now. He has the right to speak in his own defense.
Panel 5:
General Zonak: Indeed he does. Commander Ezzok... you stand accused. Bear in mind that, if you throw yourself on the mercy of this Tribunal, we are wont to be relatively lenient.
But, if found guilty... you shall be executed by implantation with Skeklar larvae.
Thusly... How do you plead?
Admiral Uldrander: Yes. How DO you plead?
Ezzok: Not guilty, your honors.
Zonak: How very brave. Or foolish. Let us proceed.
