Transcript
Panel 1:
Ensign Hylia: I've got something on the tricorder. Not the signal. Solid object. No, two of them. Size variance.
Commander Dale Zurkett: I'm pretty sure it is. Just up ahead.
Panel 2:
Hylia: What a bizarre-looking... sign, you say?
Odd-looking humanoid form. The text is... wait. Is that... English?
Zack Del Rio: Yes... yes it is. But I think that's the least weird thing.
Lieutenant Commander Natashia Staratt: I recognize this... it bears a resemblance to an Earth circus clown. Perhaps a case of convergent evolution?
Dale: I think this goes beyond that, Natashia.
Commodore Jeffrey Bannister: How so? And why do you and Zack seem to recognize this?
Panel 3:
Jeff: And what is a Krusty Burger?
Dale: That's going to take some time to explain, sir.
To sum up... it's from an old Earth 20th and 21st century television show.
Jeff: TV? Is that like holovision?
Dale: Sort of. But not really.
Unknown Transmission: Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Panel 4:
Dale: Okay... Natashia: Is there any chance WE'RE in a simulation here?
Maybe trapped in our own holodeck?
Panel 5:
Natashia: Unless my tricorder is faulty, sir, no. All these objects are registering as real.
Dale: Then what is this? Are we on some parallel world? Or... what about that Wonderland planet Captain Kirk discovered?
Jeff: Oh, I went to the Wonderland planet for a vacation once! I don't think we're there.
Panel 6:
Natashia: If you're asking me to guess... I can only speculate one possibility.
This planet is roughly 340 light years from Earth.
Dale: SO you mean...?
Natashia: Television signals from around the turn of the 21st century on Earth would be arriving here now.
Zack: Cultural duplication!
Dale: So like... they may have watched our TV? And then copied it?
Natashia: We should tread carefully. The Prime Directive is still in play here. Even if damage was already done.
Panel 7:
Natashia: In any case... the duplication would be cultural-only. It's impossible to say what sort of alien race we may encounter here.
Jeff: Standard first contact scenario, then! So relax. We're trained for this!
Dale: Okay, yes. I feel better. Just ecause it all looks like the Simpsons doesn't mean that this IS the--
Panel 8:
Dale: Uh--
Homer Simpson: Where's my burrito Where's my burrito?
Bart Simpson: Don't have a cow, man.
Unknown Transmission: Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
