Panel 1:
Commander Dale Zurkett: So... I heard you wanted to see me.
Special Envoy Lorraine Hulyard: Ah, Mr. Zurkett. About time. You've been a hard man to find today.
Why is that, I wonder?
Panel 2:
Dale: I had some leave time. Didn't take my communicator.
Hulyard: You have that right, of course. But how convenient that it was today.
Dale: Seems like the opposite. I take a day off and a Romulan steals a shuttle with our people on board.
Not to mention the trussed-up lawyer commandeering my ship.
You didn't waste any time moving into the Commodore's ready room, either, I see.
Panel 3:
Hulyard: As I'm sure you're already aware, the Commodore has been relieved of duty pending his formal court martial.
Dale: Yeah, I hear you also relieved Natashia and locked up Zack LeRoux.
I assume you brought me in for the same treatment?
You're going to have an interesting time running the ship without any senior officers. Unless you tucked some in your pockets.
Hulyard: How droll. Are you then claiming ignorance of Mr. Del Rio's true identity? I find that difficult to believe.
Panel 4:
Dale: You can think what you like. Zack... whatever his last name... is a good officer.
Hulyard: Well, then I'm sure you can act as character witness at his trial.
Dale: Let's cut to the chase, Ms. Hulyard. Am I off duty? Under arrest?
Panel 5:
Hulyard: Mr. Zurkett... despite my personal misgivings on the matter... your position on this ship was arranged under special circumstances.
The admiral is... hesitant to remove you.
Dale: Oh, so you've heard about that.
Hulyard: Regardless... I do also need senior officers to whom the crew is loyal to bring this ship back to Earth.
And I think you realize that our goals are aligned. The only place you can legally regain full command of htis ship is also Earth.
(aside): However unlikely that outcome may be.
As such... I expect you to do your proper duties. I want this ship ready to warp within the day.
Panel 6
Hulyard: However... if I discover that you were involved with that shuttle and the kidnapped prisoners...
Well, I'm sure the rest goes without saying.
Dale: It does, Ms. Hulyard.
For my part... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you have no idea who you're really working for.
Hulyard: I work for the Federation, Mr. Zurkett.
Dale: So do I.
Unknown sound: Ha ha ha!
Dale: You can laugh, but I was being serious.
